Meet the team at Calderwood Dental Practice.
Alex graduated from Dundee Dental School in 2008 and proceeded to complete 2 years post-graduate training in practice in Dundee and the community hospital in Fife. After relocating to Glasgow in 2010 she began working at Calderwood Dental practice.
In summer 2019, Alex purchased the practice and is now the principal dentist. Over the years working here she has built up a loyal patient following with her friendly and calm manner.
Alex enjoys treating a diverse range of patients and is competent at improving patient smiles via short-term orthodontic systems including Inman Aligners and Clear Aligners.
She has completed multiple accredited training courses for facial aesthetic techniques including Botox and Fillers, and has over 5 years of experience providing high quality and safe treatments to patents.
She has recently become a VDP trainer where she mentors newly qualified dentists.
Outside of work Alex loves spending time with her husband, daughters and dog which all keep her busy. In any spare time she gets she enjoys keeping fit by running and going to the gym.
Tara qualified from Dundee University in 2001, and in 2004 moved back to her home town of East Kilbride to continue her dental career as an associate at Calderwood Dental Practice.
Tara is our longest serving dentist at Calderwood and enjoys treating a wide range of dental patients, from young to old, and has a particular interest in preventative dentistry, children's dentistry and cosmetic treatments to improve patients smiles.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 children, and has a passion for baking.
Paul qualified from Glasgow University in 2015 and has worked in a couple of practices before settling at Calderwood Dental Practice. He has quickly become a very popular member of the team due to his excellent chairside manner, gentle approach and is very popular with nervous patients as a result.
Paul enjoys all aspects of general dentistry but has a keen interest in cosmetic procedures such as tooth whitening, resin restorations and adult orthodontics. He believes it is important to provide long lasting restorations that keep your mouth as healthy as possible.
Paul has attended multiple training courses since qualifying, most recently learning from one of the UKs leading restorative dentists, which allows him to provide the most up to date techniques in restorative dentistry, whilst being as kind to your natural teeth as possible.
Away from the practice Paul is a talented footballer and enjoys socialising with friends and family.
David graduated from Dundee University in 2009, and spent a year completing Vocational Training in Arbroath. On relocation back to Glasgow in 2010, he started as an associate in a practice in the West End of Glasgow but he feels now is the right time for him to join Alex, his wife, working at Calderwood Dental Practice.
David has gained experience providing a wide range of dental treatments for his patients, while developing an interest in restorative dentistry and MID (Minimally Invasive Dentistry). This has led to further training in Anterior Alignment Orthodontics via a variety of systems, and he is adept at providing patient tailored solutions in order to give them the smile they want.
He sat and passed the MJDF examination in 2019 to gain additional qualifications and as a result is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons Glasgow.
For over 10 years now David has been restoring dental implants and is a member of the Association of Dental Implantology.
He regularly attends additional courses to develop and improve his range skills and provide greater standard of care to his patients. He tries to make the whole dental experience as relaxed as possible and his calming demeanour puts patients at ease before, during and after treatments.
Away from dentistry he is involved in refereeing rugby and loves spending time with Alex, his daughters and dog Coupar!
